This is a photo of my friend working at her desk. I found
this lighting to be interesting because of how the warm light from the lamp
directs our eyes. Here my gaze is not on her but the table and the things she
is working on. This image has a very cozy but intriguing quality.
Since directing the eye is one of the jobs of a lighting
designer, this image made me think of how practicals or on-stage lights can be
used for this purpose. If you used a desk lamp to highlight something on stage
that would direct the eye but also feel very intimate and maybe mysterious
(depending on the colors of the light and scenery).
love the functional use of this desk lamp and how it's soft and warm, it looks like a comforting place to get some work done. Also love the difference between it and the cool blue of the computer screen!
